Functional Capacity Evaluations
A Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE) is a series of tests to determine a worker's safe maximum work ability. This test provides the employer, physician and case manager with an objective measure of effort during the evaluation. The FCE assesses:
- Strength, flexibility, endurance and pain
- Cardiovascular fitness
- Functional/work abilities
- Psychological screening
- Coordination and static posture
- Isometric strength test to determine maximum effort
- Other job specific activities
An FCE is a tool used to:
- Determine job restrictions
- Identify true work ability
- Verify validity and extent of injury
Industrial Rehabilitation
Our physical therapists identify the injured workers' current functional limitations and set goals to rehabilitate the worker to optimal functional ability. Industrial Rehabilitation uses exercises and work simulated activities to recondition injured wokers and facilitate safe and timely return to work.
